A mural by the underground artists known as Le Gun has been commissioned by VCCP and Metro to tell the story behind the Metro phenomenon. The 20 x 2 metre mural is on the side of an undisclosed East End office block and visually recounts the story and achievements of the UK's favourite free paper.
The graffiti artists have interpreted the brief in their own quirky fashion showing the heart of city life - with the cabs, trams, trains, technology and people that pulse through its veins. Documented over eight days as stills and on film – the imagery from the making of the mural will also be used in a Brand Book form.
Ben Daly and Nathaniel White, the creative team from VCCP that commissioned the work, said: "We are telling a story that revolves around urban life, so it feels right to integrate the message with the city itself. We want to tell Metro's story about the city - on the city."
Andrew Hall, Marketing Manager, from Metro said "Metro is always trying to communicate to our trade audience in an imaginative way. We wanted to produce something fun that we could give or send out to people who maybe didn't know that much about our brand but who needed a quick introduction. I think what we've produced is very 'us'."
