FIVE to re-launch Superstars with campaign by VCCP

Five is re-launching the popular 70's TV show Superstars. The show is an all round sports competition that pits elite athletes from different sports against one another in a series of events. The athletes are split into four teams each with a team captain. For this series they are; Steve Redgrave, Kelly Holmes, Roger Black and Mike Catt. Points are awarded for each event and the winning team is the one with most points after 8 weeks.

People who watched the original series will recall one of the most famous moments in British TV when footballer Kevin Keegan injured himself by falling off a bicycle during the cycling event.

To launch the show, VCCP has created a fully integrated campaign around the line 'The Vest is Back' which heroes the famous and iconic 70's blue with yellow trim vest so reminiscent of the original programme.

The campaign comprises of: 48 sheets, 6 sheets (including 25 special builds with real 80's style vests framed inside), press, station takeovers in Paddington and Charing Cross, and an online microsite supported by web banners. The website allows visitors to get more information about the contestants, take part in sports quizzes and play retro games.

The new series will be retuning to Five on Friday 11th July for the summer of 2008.
